Answer 1 :
Look on Expedia: http://www.expedia.com/ I'm going to Hawaii after Thanksgiving from L.A.
Answer 2 :
$350 is more than ok... I went to Honolulu in October from LA and I paid $500 round trip!... good luck on finding really good prices...
Answer 3 :
You should sign up for the Hawaiian Air miles and get their email updates. They post alot of specials especially during the holiday seasons. 350 is a great price but search other sites like priceline.com or expedia or even check with a local travel agency in your area, they can help you shop for the lowest fare. Happy hunting!

The best way to travel from the Honolulu airport to our hotel in Waikiki with two children under two yr old?
Honolulu - 9 Answers

Answer 1 :
I would find out if the hotel got a courtesy bus!?!?
Answer 2 :
have a cab take you.. Its like $35/40.
Answer 3 :
Get on the bus. Taking a cab/taxi would cost you sky high!! The wiki wiki bus would be your best bet.
Answer 4 :
We've taken the wikiki bus and also a cab-take the cab, it's 5 times faster and maybe 10$ more- the bus charges per person and the cab is just one fare-the bus stops along the way at many spots-the cab takes you directly to your hotel-your on vacation-go first class!
Answer 5 :
Yes, I would see if your hotel offers airport pickup, otherwise I would use a taxi.
Answer 6 :
Whenever we went, we had a taxi cab meet us at the airport and do the whole aloha lei greeting and then they took us to our hotel. You may try that, but besides that, I dont know because with two children under two years old, I definately wouldnt try the bus because it is very chaotic!
Answer 7 :
Consider a rental car---there's free transportation to the agency to pick up the car, which is often a few blocks from the airport. Shop on-line for good deals. While your hotel will probably have complementary shuttle buses, you will be wanting to see the rest of the island, not just Waikiki. There are tours available that pick you up at your hotel--- but with two little ones, it seems to me you'd do better following your own agenda and schedule. Oahu is pretty easy to figure out, especially with the maps they give you. Honolulu can be confusing due to many one-way streets--- but it is such a small city--before you know it you are out in the 'country' where there is basically only one main road that goes around the whole island, and one up through the middle. Drivers are generally pretty patient, too; not like the big mainland cities. People are usually content to slow down and watch the scenery, even during their commute. Try to avoid rush hour to and from downtown-- its not LA, but it does get pretty congested. Locals can point you in the right direction for activities and beaches that are especially suitable for the 'keikis" (kids) Have fun-- Aloha!
Answer 8 :
Rental cars are the cheapest way to get from airport to your hotel. Cabs and shuttle buses are scams.
Answer 9 :
I lived in hawaii for three years in the Honlulu kai area. Do not trust the bus because the biggest drug area in the island is china town half way between the airport and the beach, and I wouldn't put my worst enemy on the bus. By the way it is called The Bus. Hotel buses can take hours to get to you, not good with the kids. With a taxi cab it is a crap shoot. Just like cabs anywhere they can screw you big time. It is about $40 to $50 from the airport to waikiki. The best would be to rent a car. It is more expensive but it is the easiest way. Also alot of hotels tell you they have free transportation to all the sights on the island, that always isn't true. All the hotels in the area get together and share a bus to tourist locations. Problem is once the bus is full your buying a cab or waiting for a second trip and getting there late. The best way to see the island is to get out and drive. Most of the really beautiful places on the island you wont see unless you get out on your own. Good luck and enjoy paridise

Hey wahine, if something work for you, why change? Many people visit Waikiki several time a year, not eva get tired, ok? So come on back, I neva get tired that place too. Peace and aloha to you from Hawaii
Answer 2 :
This guy here never gets sick of Waikiki? After a while it gets old. Speaking of Waikiki, stay away from Island Hostel on Ala Moana. It's terrible. Go to Honolulu. The island has more to offer in both city and country, has nice hikes, good beaches, and is more fun the Maui.
Answer 3 :
"Maui" and "bored" are two words I never would have thought of using in the same sentence until I saw your question. There's plenty to do on Maui. It has a world-class aquarium, scuba diving, snorkeling, parasailing, luaus, helicopter tours, cruises, and hundreds of spectacular sights to see. It has beaches of every size and color, including Little Beach, my favorite clothing-optional beach. Even if you're not an out door person you'll enjoy the beautiful tropical scenery along the road to Hana. If you crave nightlife, you can go to Lahaina for a luau or some live music at Cheeseburger in Paradise. There are bars with live music and dancing in Kihei too. I've been there three times and I never felt bored. I always felt like the time went by too fast

Travel from Honolulu to Maui?
I'm flying from LAX to Honolulu for a wedding in Maui, only because it was the cheapest flight. Now how the heck do I get from Honolulu to Maui, and how much does it cost? How far is it really? Thanks!
Honolulu - 6 Answers

Answer 1 :
Its going to run you about $150 round trip to fly. It takes normally no longer than 30 min with out any delays. They also have the super Ferry I don't know how much it cost or how long it will take but I have heard that Its not running it right now. I hope you have fun!
Answer 2 :
If you haven't purchased your ticket, there are flights directly from LAX to Maui (United) which would save you the extra airfare. If you have bought your ticket, look up Hawaiian Airlines or Aloha Airlines. It will cost about $150 roundtrip, for this up and down flight. They have multiple flights during the day.
Answer 3 :
Best way is to fly, unless you are a powerful swimmer. Aloha, Hawaiian, Mesa, Island Air are going to run you about $90-100 round trip. Just check on kayak.com for a round trip flight from HNL to OGG, punch your dates in. Good idea to allow at least an hour to an hour and a half for your connection (each direction) as you will most likely have to change terminals from the main one to the inter-island terminal (to the left as you come out) to make your connecting flight. Unless of course you are coming in on Aloha or Hawaiian? At least a lot of the inter-island flights go off about every hour. Also do a google search for the Honolulu airport map; makes it easier when you change planes in Honolulu. A lot of times if you know your connecting flight and airline they will check your bags all the way through for you.
Answer 4 :
When are you planning on going to Maui? If you haven't yet booked your flight to Honolulu, consider Hawaiian Airlines. If you decide on Hawaiian Air, join their HawaiianMiles club. It's free and you can get $10.00 off a roundtrip ticket from the mainland to Hawaii. If you like Hawaii, which you probably will, you can bank those miles as long as you travel on Hawaiian Airlines every three years. Flying from Honolulu to Maui will cost about $110 roundtrip and they probably have the most interisland flights of all the airlines. I'm going to Maui and Oahu in August on Hawaiian Airlines from Sacramento and they are cheaper than Aloha Airlines during that time span. This will be our seventh trip. Aloha and have a great time.
Answer 5 :

Unfortunately, that probably wouldn't be meaningful unless it's for the current year. Fares have gone up on all airlines due to higher fuel costs. I've been watching the fares from Phoenix to Kona for the past few months and they've gone up in that time. The only lower fares I've seen lately were on flights leaving and returning in the same day. I can't even imagine why anyone would want to do that, but that was what I saw on Travelocity. I used to see fares around $400 or less, but lately I haven't seen any under $600 except for those odd one-day round trips

How can I get Dec. Orlando-Honolulu travel under $600?
Is there anyway for the love of sweet Jesus to get to Honolulu for the first two weeks of Dec. for under $600? Last week it was $580 but now it's jumped. I have the lodging chance of a lifetime but need to get out there! I live in Orlando, but could probably detour and fly Orlando to somewhere else to Honolulu if it was worth it, money-wise. (Although seperate flights entail baggage check fees all over again...) I was looking to leave around the third and come back the fourteenth... ish... Also, would I be smart to wait til closer to the date to see if fares drop?

Aloha - really hope you can make the trip happen! Priceline is right now showing weekeday flights with tax incl for $673 - so really close to the price you wanted Your local travel agent may be able to find a special fare but they are not likely to drop, they're likely to go up, especially as we get closer to the holidays so call them and ask for some prices, see what you can get Best wishes!
Answer 2 :
If you like to take risks you can wait for the very last min and then book the flight then (within 2 days of flight). You will be able to get a discounted price for your ticket if the seats are available because otherwise the airlines would fly empty seats to Hawaii, something they don't want to do. If the flights are full or still in demand then it means you are in bad luck and will have to pay whatever the going price is. I fly back and forth from Hawaii to the US at least once per month and often use this strategy. I am VERY happy with the results about 60% of the times. Sometimes I am not so lucky. I recommend you read http://www.sharinghawaii.com/hawaii-questions/finding-best-deals-hawaii for some more ideas of how to find a cheap flight to Hawaii. Good luck.
Answer 3 :
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck

About Recommendation for a Honolulu/Waikiki travel guide
Recommendation for a Honolulu/Waikiki travel guide?
When I don't know much about a topic I like to read a ton about it. I have been to a million sites online but I would still like to pick up a travel book or two to read as well. It's our honeymoon so I want to feel like I have a decent lay of the land when we get there (plus my fiance depends on me to be organized and know what's going on). I don't want to waste my time with books that don't help, we have our hotel, so I am less concerned about that and more concerned about sights, sounds and tastes of Honolulu. Thanks!

Oahu Revealed is great! I have all of the "Revealed" books and I live in Hawaii! When I travel to another island (frequently), I always consult my Revealed book on that island so I can make some good choices when it comes to accommodations, dining, shopping, beaches, and activities. I've included the link to the authors' website below, but you can find the Revealed series at any major bookstore, like Borders or Barnes and Noble. Aloha ~
Answer 2 :
Since you like being organized like I do I'd suggest the Oahu Trailblazer guidebook. We used it on our honeymoon and since my husband likes to surf he could pick and choose the closest beaches and I could find out what was in the area that we could both do afterwards. We saw the whole island that way. Waikiki was pretty touristy so we got to see lesser know places that offered space and beautiful views. For lay of the land and directions and pictures and upbeat insights, it's the best book out there. You can get it on Amazon. Hope your hotel has a view of the water, only way to go!

About Do I need a passport while traveling from Honolulu to Guam with a layover in Japan
Do I need a passport while traveling from Honolulu to Guam with a layover in Japan?
I understand Guam is US soil but do you ever need passports for layovers? I'm only in Japan for three hours. But I'm pretty sure in order to get on a plane to Japan in Honolulu, you need a passport regardless. I'm so confused... I don't usually travel and never considered to get a passport and I'm leaving in too short of time to get one. I'm confused about when you need or don't need passports. Thanks for any information! I'm just trying to be sure so I'm not stuck anywhere.

Answer 1 :
Any time you travel outside of the US you need a passport. I believe that includes US territories such as Guam. And you shouldn't need one for the layover since you won't be leaving the airport, but it's still a good idea to get one anyway.
Answer 2 :
The other answerer said he thinks you need a passport for Guam..he is mistaken...it is a territory of the U.S. so you don't need a passport. As to needing one for your layover in Japan, I think the best thing to do is call the airline and ask them. If a passport is needed, they would require it before boarding. To get passport information, go to the website below.
Answer 3 :
Get a passport. Read the following, specifically under "Notes": Guam: Passport & visas Passports Required, but NOT by the following: 1) Nationals of United States holding proof of citizenship including a valid picture ID & an original birth certificate & arriving/departing to/from an United States destination Notes: Citizens of United States entering or exiting Guam in possession of an ID card in lieu of a passport will be detained until verification can be obtained as to the status of their United States citizenship
Answer 4 :
Into AND out of Guam, no matter if you're heading to the states via Japan, Hawaii, Philippines or wherever, you need a passport. Yes, you need a passport. Going into Guam from the US Mainland, you'll usually either pass through Hawaii or Japan. Both require a passport because you will be travelling internationally. Although Guam is part of the US, it is not a state, and is regarded as an overseas destination that requires a federal ID. So the last US State you go through (Hawaii) will want to see your passport. And through Japan, anywhere thats not theirs of course will be international. Its all the same leaving as well...

About Did Obama time travel to 1961 to publish his birth announcement in the Honolulu Advertiser and Honolulu Star
Did Obama time travel to 1961 to publish his birth announcement in the Honolulu Advertiser and Honolulu Star?
Bulletin https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Birther#Obama_was_not_born_in_Hawaii @Shovel Ready: Did the Angels tell his grandmother that he would be president one day and would need something to prove he was born on US soil ? @Tringle: Obama would have got US citizenship anyway since his mother is a US citizen. Are you saying they knew he would become president and have to prove he was born on US soil ?

Answer 1 :
By saying his Hawaiian birth certificate is not "real", you are insulting all of us that have Hawaiian birth certificates and calling our citizenship into question. Shame be upon you! Other than names and dates, me and countless others have certificates identical to his. Or is mine "real" simply because I'm white? Yeah, that's what I thought.
Answer 2 :
You're just another Dead Horser.
Answer 3 :
Yes.
Answer 4 :
obama's grandmother put the ad in the paper, got him a SS card, and made the birth entry in the Hawaii state records (She worked for the state government). The one thing she could not do was to fabricate an original birth certificate signed by a physician.
Answer 5 :
get over it he was born in the us, there are more important thing to talk about.
Answer 6 :
Why does it even matter? Seriously...
Answer 7 :
Please explain the 1.8 million he has spent hiding his birth record, college transcript and so on? For a man that has nothing to hide he sure has spent a lot of money doing so.
Answer 8 :
No,,,,that's insane,,,,time travel was not possible from kenya....ask his drunk dad, he'll tell you.
Answer 9 :
Obama stole a child named Obama's Identity
Answer 10 :
Although I am not one of the people who believe Obama was born outside of the US, a birth announcement in a newspaper is not proof of where he was born.
Answer 11 :
No one argues that the man was born or that his grandparents were proud to run a birth announcement. But such newspaper birth announcements do not mean anything. I have a grandson who was born in Alaska but we, his grandparents, ran a birth announcement in the Star Ledger, in New Jersey. That is where the rest of the family lives. *
Answer 12 :
My money is on Trump and his money getting to the bottom of this .
Answer 13 :
You do understand that is something a family will do if they want to make their kid a us citizen but have no BC? And it wasn't even his mother that did it it was his grandmother. They need some kind of proof to say their kid was born in the states. So a birth announcement is all you have and its nothing, Obama could release his BC anytime and end this all but he refuses to because he has something to hide.
Answer 14 :
We don't know who put an announcement in the paper nine days after he was born, and put the wrong address.
Answer 15 :
wiki as a source is a laughable s saying a lib is capable of telling the truth!!! The answer is no, but libs will believe anything!!!

Yes, I would say Hawaii is one of the safest states in the United States. Course thats not to say its 100% safe and you should still be cautious if you're going to shady parts of the island (but then again why would you go there when you're on vacation?) but most of the time, busy tourist attractions like Waikiki, Alamoana, are pretty much safe even at night time. Actually in Waikiki, most of the fun goes on at night. Waikiki might get a bit rowdy at night time though because theres alot of weird guys who like to hit on you, but thats pretty much it. Its alot of fun because there are lots of people around and sidewalk shows and stuff. Well at least thats what it used to be like, I havent been there in a few months but I expect it to be a little less crowded with the economy going down the drain and tourism dropping here in Hawaii. Fun things to do: lots of water activities. You can go to the Hawaiian water parks You could go snorkeling at Hanauma Bay You can go shopping at the malls: Alamoana/ Waikiki (waikiki is more like a long street with lots of stores, restaurants, and hotels than an actual mall though) Beaches: Alamoana Beach Waikiki Beach (usually super crowded though because its right by the hotels) North Shore (Great for surfing, huge waves but a pretty long drive if you're staying near Waikiki) Im not sure if there are many cheap hotels, since most of the hotels are in Waikiki and they are pretty pricy but I do know one cheap hotel which is Pagoda Hotel, its pretty close to Alamoana Boulevard. www.pagodahotel.com Even teenage kids go out by themselves at night all the time, and its pretty safe.
Answer 2 :
Aston Coral Reef Hotel in downtown cheaper than most 1-800-950-1363
